Your Creative Intentions: The Monday Post ~ June 15, 2015
A regular creative practice — a daily practice, if possible — is key to staying in touch with how you make meaning. Key to living, not postponing. (Let’s all agree to give up on “someday.”)
What are your plans for creative practice this week? Given the specifics of your schedule, decide on a realistic intention or practice plan — and ink that time in your calendar. The scheduling part is important, because as you know, if you try to “fit it in” around the edges, it generally won’t happen. An intention as simple as “I will write for 20 minutes every morning after breakfast” or “I will sketch a new still life on Wednesday evening” is what it’s all about. If appropriate, use time estimates to containerize your task, which can make a daunting project feel more accessible.
Share your intentions or goals as a comment to this post, and let us know how things went with your creative plans for last week, if you posted to last week’s Monday Post. We use a broad brush in defining creativity, so don’t be shy. We also often include well-being practices that support creativity, such as exercise and journaling.
Putting your intentions on “paper” helps you get clear on what you want to do — and sharing those intentions with this community leverages the motivation of an accountability group. Join us!

So pleased to be writing daily again. Having a really, really hard time shifting my day to the early morning (it’s 10:30 pm right now and I still have a bunch of work on deck). But at least I’m getting it done. Still working on the schedule this week.
Last week’s plan:
* Daily writing sessions, 5:00 am [did the writing, but not that early]
* Daily/evening planning [partly]
* Daily journaling [not daily]
* Exercise at least 3x [yes, x6]
* 30 hours client billables [yet again no, only 23.75]
This week’s plan:
* Daily writing sessions, 5:00 am
* Daily/evening planning
* Daily journaling
* Exercise at least 5x (walk or yoga)
* 30 hours client billables

How was your week, Mo? (Can I call you that??)
Reeny is better, the week was sluggish, sleeping in way too much, sloging around in pjs and flip flops and looking at fb too much. I look at kids and husband with faces in their devices and sometimes I think gee who am I with here? husband did intiate a walk to rite aid and back , took 30 min. how was yours?
Great prompt. My goals this week are to finish chapter 7, write a blog post, and actually do some of my day job writing!
Yay, Alana! That “day job writing” is a slippery eel for me these days…. eek!
Before I have my first child I used to create everyday. Then I fell into depression, Post-partum depression, and I shut everything down.
One day I decided that I needed to start creating again…because it is vital.
So I started drawing again, and taking pictures, and writing scripts.
My intentions are to :
-finish writing my short film and film it
-finish a pastel canvas that someone ordered from me
-draw Marylin Monroe on black board
Good for you, enyah4m! How did things go?
Pretty good now actually. My drawing business is doing pretty well. I taught my son how to play by himself while I draw. I explained to him why I am drawing.
🙂
missing creative intentions in my inbox… hello all.
