“Suspending self-judgement doesn’t just mean blowing off the ‘You suck’ voice in our heads. It also means liberating ourselves from conventional expectations — from what we think our work ‘ought’ to be or ‘should’ look like. Stay stupid. Follow your unconventional, crazy heart.”
— Steven Pressfield
This is the moment to deepen, or commit to, your regular creativity practice. Regularity — a daily practice, if at all possible — is key.
So what are your plans for creative practice this week? Given the specifics of your schedule, decide on a realistic intention, goal, or a milestone to reach for — and plan that time in your calendar. An intention as simple as “I will be creative for 10 minutes every day” or “I will gesso three canvases on Wednesday” is what it’s all about.
Share your intentions or goals as a comment to this post, and let us know how things went with your creative plans for last week, if you posted to last week’s Monday Post.
Obviously I don’t need to give you a re-cap of last week — my post about Thursday was enough of a summation. This week, my mother-in-law arrives Thursday and will be staying for more than two weeks; on Friday, my brother and sister arrive for the weekend. With all five kids at home to boot, our house will be busting merrily at the seams. I do need to spend some time this week preparing on the domestic front.

* Yoga/walk/run x2 [yes]

This week’s creative/well-being intentions:

bellydance,, sing, and garden: these are the things i haven’t been saying…
i may have some time to write this morning…the rest of the week, a lot of organizing to catch up on.
I’ve started a daily yoga practice, which feels really empowering. This week’s goals are to continue planting the vegetable garden, harvesting/eating from the garden, prepare for a gardening panel discussion for which I am a panel member, and make lavender lotion and figure out my costs so I can sell it to others. Just writing that last sentence makes me uncomfortable! There must be a learning curve for getting comfortable asking for monetary compensation for something I create, because it doesn’t come naturally. On the other hand, I am happy – really – to pay my friends for things like yoga classes, because I like to participate in them making a living doing what they love, so I am going to focus on that perspective.
