“The pearl’s beauty is made as a result of insult, just as art is made as a response to something in our environment that fires us up, sparks us, causes us to think differently. The pearl, like art, must be catalyzed.”
~Julia Cameron

This is the moment to deepen, or commit to, your regular creativity practice. Regularity — a daily practice, if at all possible — is key.

So what are your plans for creative practice this week? Given the specifics of your schedule, decide on a realistic intention, goal, or a milestone to reach for — and plan that time in your calendar. An intention as simple as “I will be creative for 10 minutes every day” or “I will gesso three canvases on Wednesday” is what it’s all about.

Share your intentions or goals as a comment to this post, and let us know how things went with your creative plans for last week, if you posted to last week’s Monday Post.

  1. Since the new year I have made a creative goal to photograph our everyday life more. I have been keeping up with that goal with hundreds of images each month! Warms my heart knowing that with something that does ignite a fire within me can be expressed in such a beautiful way and while creating memories for my children + family!

  2. Reblogged this on Pamela Zmija Photography and commented:
    Personally my creative goal this year is to photograph our children and family more of our daily life! I love that the simplest of moments my kids or husband and I can look back on and remember so much! I love that the fire that can ignite in me can be calmed in such a beautiful way through photography and warm my heart of the memories we are creating!

  3. My primary well-being intention for the week is to continue completely abstaining from the Easter candy. If I take even one hit off of that particular crack pipe, the next thing I know I’ll be on the couch in a sugar coma, clutching a large empty bowl, surrounded by tiny pastel wrappers and peep dust.

    Last week’s creative/well-being intentions:
    * Morning centering practice [not nearly as much as I wanted]
    * Finish preparations for Wednesday’s Writers’ Workshop [yes]
    * Complete installment of nonfiction project for “5PM Friday” accountability group [no]
    * One blog post [yes]
    * Journaling [not quite daily, but close]
    * Yoga/run x3 [yes]

    This week’s creative/well-being intentions are another repeat:
    * Morning centering practice [daily]
    * Finish reading peers’ work for nonfiction group [T]
    * Complete installment of nonfiction project for “5PM Friday” accountability group [Th/F]
    * One blog post [T/W]
    * Journaling [daily]
    * Yoga/run x3 [T, W, Fri]

  5. The birthday push is over, the girl has been duly celebrated, the handmades have been given, and Mama is almost recovered. It was fun, though, I had way more fun preparing her party than was necessary.

    This week:
    – Yoga – 3X
    – Run – 3X
    – Get good sleep
    – Plant seedlings in greenhouses
    – Make pajama pants for my mom that are over a year late
    – 3 blog posts

    Happy week!
    Jane
