Monday Post ~ April 2, 2012
“Everything we say signifies; everything counts, that we put out into the world. It impacts on kids, it impacts on the zeitgeist of the time.”
~Meryl Streep
This is the moment to deepen, or commit to, your regular creativity practice. Regularity — a daily practice, if at all possible — is key.
So what are your plans for creative practice this week? Given the specifics of your schedule, decide on a realistic intention, goal, or a milestone to reach for — and plan that time in your calendar. An intention as simple as “I will be creative for 10 minutes every day” or “I will gesso three canvases on Wednesday” is what it’s all about.
Share your intentions or goals as a comment to this post, and let us know how things went with your creative plans for last week, if you posted to last week’s Monday Post.

Today my 5-yr old and I made stools out of sections of a downed oak tree from the forest. He painted a sun on one and a flower on the other, for his sister’s birthday. We’re in full creative handmade mode and it’s been a joy!
A little too manic right now — trying to slow things down. I did get back on track with my morning meditation and centering practice last week, which is a huge help. In the meantime, my creative intentions are another repeat:
Last week’s creative/well-being intentions:
* Morning centering practice [yes–much better this week]
* Finish preparations for Wednesday’s Writers’ Workshop [yes]
* Complete installment of nonfiction project for “5PM Friday” accountability group [yes]
* One blog post [edit only]
* Journaling [yes]
* Yoga/run x3 [x2]
This week’s creative/well-being intentions are another repeat:
* Morning centering practice [daily]
* Finish preparations for last Wednesday’s Writers’ Workshop [T/W]
* Complete installment of nonfiction project for “5PM Friday” accountability group [Th/F]
* One blog post [Wed]
* Journaling [daily]
* Yoga/run x3 [T, W, Fri]
So this isn’t really a full post, but just an acknowledgement that I’m here, swamped with work and projects and unable to get to my creative work very much at the moment.
My only goal this week is to write an essay for the current exhibit at the library, More Than Words. Planning to submit a draft to the 5PM Writing group on friday. After that I can breathe and re-evaluate.
It’s a little late in the week for me to be setting Monday goals, but I wanted to say that it’s inspiring to read others goals for the week. I would like to try next Monday!
Just finished the re-write of my manuscript early this morning (!) and am sure reading/editing that will be on the docket for next week–as well as a well-deserved treat of a few hours alone. Ahhhhh, I am dreaming of it now . . .
