Lisa D.: How NOT To Write a Novel by Howard Mittelmark and Sandra Newman
HarperCollins sent me a very handy book to review: How NOT To Write a Novel: 200 Classic Mistakes and How to Avoid Them — A Misstep-By-Misstep Guide by writers and editors Howard Mittelmark and Sandra Newman. I thought that a few of you might appreciate this hilarious and insightful book as much as I did. If you’d like to read the review, click here.

Lisa, it does indeed sound hilarious. I will have to pick up a copy since I have recently been contemplating suicide by paper cut. It’s good to know the authors disapprove. 😛
This novel writing business is not for the faint of heart. Last week I thought I was *so* ready to contact an agent. And then I read 78 Reasons Why Your Book May Never Be Published by Pat Walsh, followed by Making the Perfect Pitch by Katharine Sands, at which point I came to the sad realization that the only thing I was really ready for was more editing. *sigh*
Still, I would rather read books that tell me what I’m doing wrong than force agents and editors to tell me themselves. 🙂
Enjoyed the review, Lisa–definitely going to order this one. I always appreciate sound advice framed with a bit of levity!
