Miranda: Fruitful weekend

Weekend was a success. Yesterday managed to get through a bunch of things on my household to-do list and spent Toddler’s naptime camped out in bed myself (luxurious 2.5 hours), cozily writing thank-you notes, writing in my journal, and starting a new sketch. (Yeah, OK, I had total trash TV on in the background, sound turned low…) During naptime today, I made good progress on Chapter 3 and made some revisions to the earlier content based on a reader’s feedback. Still have some Sunday-night tidying up to do, but the weekend was a good mix of productivity and fun (went out for Mexican food last night with six kids in tow, and fit some reading in too).

I hope everyone else had a few rays of creative sunshine this weekend!

  1. Yay for you! I’m so glad you were able to keep your momentum! Wish I could take advantage of Puck’s naps like that, but he won’t nap with me – only with (on) Dada. LOL Oh well, it’s time I don’t get often enough with his brother, so I’ll take it!

  2. Even better, Toddler naps in his CRIB! (Oh, you thought I had a REASON to be in bed…LOL…nope, I was there by myself.) He actually proactively asks to have a nap, at about 1:30 or 2:00 every day. It’s amazing. Many days I have to wake him up after 2.5 hours. He’ll easily go more than 3 hours if I let him (which does interfere with being ready for bed at night–so I try to avoid that). But for the first 18 months he slept in our bed and then a crib in our room, and he was not a good sleeper, at all. Took forever to sleep through the night (and I didn’t him wean until 19 months). So I truly pinch myself to have such a regular afternoon break to count on.

  3. Wow, he sounds like my younger one! In the past I’ve been able to nurse him to sleep and then have him nap beside me on the bed for up to an hour and a half, but he got spoiled when his Daddy was home on vacation….

My older boy was the better sleeper. I could count on naps until he turned 2. Then he dropped them altogether. That was hard. You are indeed lucky!!
