i wrote a little, make that tiny, today, but mostly researched. what am i, a tortured artist who must know all the wildlife of ireland before i can put my characters on the dang plane? other than waterfowl apparently county meath is incredibly lacking in birds.

so i set up a bird theme to carry through the book, an d set it someplace i've never been, and now find no birds but waterfowl.

what's a girl to do? it's fiction, i'll fake it. though i won't be adding snakes to ireland...or apparently turtles. i also sent an email to the county birdtracker. the internet is a wondrous thing.

nada today, but I DID learn to burn 1MB worth of photographs (my own) x 20 to assemble a slide show (Pecha Kucha) for next Friday night.
Now i have to come up with what I'm going to say. All this writing, I think I started on a new poem the other night. Has me thinking anyway. And an article about starting a business is not like a horse race, more like conducting an elaborate piece of music...
Anyway, Pecha Kucha is Japanese for Chit Chat - 20 slides. 20 seconds per slide to talk about the slides, or your process, or your dreams, or whatever.
Love that 6 minutes 40 seconds is very specific, not very long, but with plenty of time for some thing magic to happen. Now that the slides are in order, plan to work on words tomorrow.
FInding that word counts for me, this month, are not as helpful, since i have these specific assignments/goals. BUt I like what pushing for them teaches me.
Cheers.
PS, Avoided doggy surgery today. Scottish deerhound, the largest and eldest of my two dogs. I can honestly say I don't know how you parents do it. I sweat bullets for canines!!!

Yay Miranda! I didn't write a word either! I go home lat night at 8:30 with no child and nothing to do, and... I found I was exhausted and empty. But pleasantly so.

I needed a night off, so I took one. I listened to Otis Redding and ate ice cream. One cannot draw from an empty well, and apparently this is how I re-stock.

For me, this a surprisingly emotional experience. My writing tends to get personal as I am completely self-absorbed, and I find myself mentally and emotionally spent afterward.

That with the (albeit comparatively minor) flu battle, moving, working, and driving 4 hours yesterday to fetch my new (used) Saab from New Hampshire, and I was ready for a peanut butter chocolate collapse.

The best part was not feeling like shit for taking some "me" time.

Yes. These words were typed by a heterosexual man.

PS: Miranda, Pp"':;?/ (Felipe blushes coyly)

Sorry to hear of the sad news from both of you, Cathy and Elizabeth.

I did not write today. Worked full steam and then went out to late dinner with husband after little kids were in bed. Spent last hour packing and getting organized. Leaving in early morning for three-day weekend; not sure I will have any chance for writing anything at all. So, for moi, big fat ZERO.

Keep it going, guys! Will check in as able.

PS: Eric, please tell Felipe that his keyboarding skills are impeccable.

i have under 500 so far today, two sick kids a ton of laundry and i got the terrible news that an icon and friend throughout my 20's and 30s has died. those of you in the boston area may be familiar with Brother Blue. what a magical man. the storyteller of all storytellers, and i was happy to call him and his wife, ruth, friend.

I keep finding myself trying to describe him to honey, who didn't know him, and instead find myself bursting into tears. there are snippets of him on youtube, but none do him justice as a live performer or the truly unconditionally loving man that he was. when i can i will blog about him.

thanks guys. my dad lives in south florida and has tons of property management and real estate experience. he's been doing some investigating for me, talking with the realtor "on behalf of a client" :-). so he's taking care of all the "due diligence on the property", whatever the heck that means. i'm just glad i have him to help me figure out all that part. another funny side note. i actually went to school with the realtor! i sent my dad a picture of a party (held at his house during spring break when he was out of town...ooops) that included this particular realtor. dad remained mum about the connection when he talked to dan. i asked him if he told him he had a picture of him in his house drinking beer circa 1988 and he said he'd save that little nugget for the negotiation stage. :-)
