“When you’re bringing your whole self to the party, you’re practicing your art form. Be it in conversation, on the canvas, or on the court, when you’re creating something from your soul, you’re making poetry happen.”
— Danielle LaPorte

This is the moment to deepen, or commit to, your regular creativity practice. Regularity — a daily practice, if at all possible — is key.

So what are your plans for creative practice this week? Given the specifics of your schedule, decide on a realistic intention, goal, or a milestone to reach for — and plan that time in your calendar. An intention as simple as “I will be creative for 10 minutes every day” or “I will gesso three canvases on Wednesday” is what it’s all about.

Share your intentions or goals as a comment to this post, and let us know how things went with your creative plans for last week, if you posted to last week’s Monday Post.

  1. I have been neglecting the StudioMothers site, and along with it my creative goals. This is the last full week of school for my kids, and truly June feels like December in terms of activities, fundraisers, concerts, and other events. So here is a modest goal for this week.
    1. replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts. I’ve been having a wee bit of trouble with anxiety lately.
    2. 15 minutes a day, that’s all I ask. Draw, create, explore. Pick up a child’s marker and draw on an envelope if that is all I can manage. It will get better.

  2. so because i announced on my blog over the weekend that i was taking a break from the manuscript for the time being, all of a sudden, i want to work on it again. #writersareweirdos. summer library jaunts ho!

last week of school for my boys, and they go to their father’s on the 23rd for a month. going to set up a couple of days a week to go to the library again for longer uninterrupted writing/editing sessions in my manuscript.

want to start submitting before summer is over, or by fall, to be realistic. if that route doesn’t work, will self-pub.

want this thing off of my roster. still love it, just want to work on other things already…

this week: tomorrow my writing group meets, but i have a school mtg in the middle of it. so, i was going to ask grandma to take toots with her on wednesday and thurs, so i can hopefully focus on edits before the boys come home from their half day…get a little jump start in before they are home full time for a week, then gone.
